Cloud Eleven

It rained continuously today. But despite the drab and dreary weather, Karyn is happy!

Spent whole day out in good company(happy factor 1) without thinking about Frontpage assignment, Psycho report and SAT this Saturday. What's SAT again? =P

Happy happy joy joy. =D =D

Started the day with a round of dim sum (happy factor 2). Been craving for it since a few weeks before the holidays. Then headed to a batik craft store in Batu Ferringhi. Pretty stuff. The intricate makings of batik is definitely not for someone like me with zero art skills. Next stop was Balik Pulau laksa. Though it seems like the Balik Pulau laksa shop is out to get me. Whenever i'm there, the shop is not open. Monkey. Nevertheless, i still got to eat laksa(happy factor 3). Authentic Penang laksa. =) not some horrendous curry thing.

YUM. Lemak laksa rocks. Curry mee doesn't.
One thing i don't understand is why only Penang has the lemak laksa but other states don't. They need to taste the power of REAL laksa. =P

And then and then in the afternoon i watched Juno at a friend's house (happy factor 4). Quite an interesting show, i would say. Provides an alternative to abortions. Heh.
Ahem. I spent the whole day with my friend's family (happy factor 5). =D oh yes i did.

So you see, happy relaxing day.

Forgotten

JPA promised us that we'd get our allowance in a months time. That was in JULY. Now it's SEPTEMBER, fast approaching OCTOBER. And still NO allowance.

The others majoring in Acturial Science, IT and Applied Science got theirs eons ago. It's just us poor souls from Engineering and Econs that are forgotten. Apparently the system "down" and it will only be able to process our money in 2 weeks time. By then, it'll be Raya..so it might take another extra week.

How can it be so terribly arduous to just punch in some numbers and put in the allowance into our bank accounts?? And what kind of "system" is this where half the Engineering and Econs people have received their allowances and not the rest? What about those students whose parents really cannot afford to give them a few hundreds each month? How then do they survive?

Pffft.

I'm hungry.
And i'm blogging during Computer class (again). =P

Have a nice week ahead, people!

The facades of Inti..well, not really.

Remember the insect invasions?I've been collecting evidences over the weeks. Hahaha.
Behold.

Some mosquito enjoying itself on my book.

Lookie! Now you know what cockroach innards look like. Grey mush. Heee.
By the way, i saw another one yesterday but it scurried out the door before i could get to it.

Lizard poop. On my calculus homework. I just nicely left my work on the table and upon returning, i saw this.

Closer view. Mind you, i had to redo everything on that paper because i couldn't stand the stench and the grossness of it all.

The poop returned once or twice. Some days i find poop on my table. At least on the floor also not so bad but on MY TABLE. The place where i eat, write, fall asleep, put stuff.
Sigh. But so far this week don't have la.

Right, enough gross stuff. Now on to interesting pictures.

Anyone knows who Nages Rajes is? Haha. What a way to declare your love for somebody.

And the most jaw-dropping, attention-grabbing photo...

TA-DA!

Just had to open it up. =P

Hold your high horses, people. Just what did you think i was doing with this huh?
If you look at the photo again, it says 'Sample Pack' at the top corner. Some Cleo magazine people were promoting their AIDS awareness charity concert thingie in INTI..
Wonder what that has got to do with my little 'gift'?
Well.
Nobody walks under the hot sun in INTI...everyone just uses the bridge walkway so being the nice girl that i am, i entertained them by listening to what they said lo. Stood under the hot sun with the bunch of sweaty, tired looking, miserable people and they gave me that as a gesture.

Like couldn't they give me a 2008 CLEO magazine or something?

Oh well, at least if you guys know of anyone in desperate need for one, can come find me la.
HAHA.

Stuff

He: Yes. At last. It was hard waiting.

She: Do you want me to leave?

He: NO! Don't even think about it.

She: Do you love me?

He: Of course!

She: Have you ever cheated on me?

He: NO! Why you even asking?

She: Will you kiss me?

He: Yes!

She: Will you hit me?

He: No way! I'm not such kind of person!

She: Can I trust you?

Done reading? Now reread from bottom up.

Hahahaha. Sound familiar??
(Especially to Prof. Lim's students. =D)
Just got this in my email inbox today.

Reminded me of the time when i got fooled by this conversation during one ENL lesson.
I think i've gotten this mail a few times before but i forgot that it was meant to be read from the bottom up. Prof. Lim actually printed out this conversation as material for one of our many short in-class writing, called 'Journal Writing'. For every Journal Writing, or JW for short, he tells us some story and we're supposed to write a short paragraph in response to it.

I actually like doing JW's in each ENL lesson. =D Mainly cause our professor is quite the raconteur. It's especially funny when he goes into this falsetto when mentioning something incredulous. That and the fact that he allows us glimpses into his private life during these naratives for our JW. Got love story summore. Heeeee. =P

Um..I wanted to mention something else but i got carried away with JW. Now what did i want to say.
Oh right, i kinda miss doing A Levels. It was so much free-ier..
All i did in the first half of the year was :

Go for lectures
Listen listen (or fall asleep occasionally =p)
Bum around at home
Study when AS was approaching.

Compare to the life here in INTI :
Go for lectures
Listen listen
Do assignments
Take mini tests
Do tutorials
Study
Take mid term exams
Go for lecture
Listen listen
Study
Take mini tests
Do assignments
Work on uni application

You get the idea..
There's so much to do here that i barely have time to worry about the real SAT on October 4th.

O yeah, Prof. Lim will be in Penang tomorrow. He offered to be the messenger for his students from Penang (that's me!) : get any stuff that parents might want to pass to their kids. See how nice he is? Heheh.

ps- Mummy ah, pretend that you have something to pass to me, drive to Equitorial Hotel then you get to meet our revered professor. XD XD hahahaha.

Let's keep swimming, swimming swimming

It's been raining on an almost non-stop basis since yesterday.
I don't get to go swimming.
=(

Insect Invasion Part 2

Princess Ants came buzzing into my room not too long ago.
Not too sure how they got in but most likely through the window although the window has a protective gauze layer.
Waved the broom around like some demented person and killed them all.
Yer.
Disgusting i tell you.
Could hear them buzzing on the window sill.
And normal red ants are forming large groups around the dead Princess Ants on the window sill.
At least it has stopped for now but there are quite a number outside at the pantry area.
Once again attracting a steady flow of ants.
Know why there are ants?
Cause the dead insect produces some chemical that stimulate these ants to come and carry the rotting body to a decomposing site..or something..
That's what the Psycho book said..

Why is it i always face insect problems when my roomie is not around?
Sigh.
There better not be a repeat of the toilet invasion of Princess Ants tomorrow.

Infestation

My room seems to be a partying ground for insects of all sorts.
First there were ants parading into the room through a window in my room.
Then there came insects of all shapes, colors and sizes which landed on any open space that they fancied. Most of the time, my table and bed appeared to be the landing pad of choice. However, now it seems like my table is becoming a favorite for mass burials. Almost every morning, i wake up to see at least one mosquito dead on the table.
Or occasionally, some sesat critter would flit around the room or just perch on books, table, bed...

One fine morning, i woke up to find not one, but hundreds..possibly thousands of Princess Ants decimated in the bathroom.

Yes, these things are called PRINCESS ANTS. I found that out from Beng Yen who found it out from someone else. Who knew ants could be so huge?? And who knew they could fly???

Recently, there has been an exponential increase in the number of insects living in block S. I counted an average of 10 mosquitoes and at least one moth in a toilet/showering cubicle. Certain cubicles still contain remnants of the Princess Ants Invasion. A pair of wings here...a mangled body there..

And TODAY.
I vanquished a roach who happily made his home in one of the drawers in my cupboard. I am terribly afraid of roaches by the way.

Imagine pulling out your drawer to see a dark brown 6-legged insect staring up at you innocently. EW. As soon as it spotted me, it dove further into the unreachable depths of the cupboard. I thought all was lost until it peeked out from wherever it was hiding. Then it did what roaches do best - scuttle here and there at an alarming rate.

Both Michelle and I screamed like crazee.
Hahaha. (I screamed when i saw a cockroach but not when that sampah masyarakat touched me. Ironic isn't it?)

I was a girl with a mission. Armed with my Ridsect, I sprayed like nobody's business and subsequently annihilated the roach. Ridsect was efficacious but now my cupboard stinks badly. UGH.
Mebbe in future, i can invent some Ridsect that doesn't smell. Teehee.

Anyway, that wasn't the end.
When i cleaned my cupbaord, i killed several spiders and what-nots on the way.
Also, i spotted this.

Hahaha..The green insect was doing some sort of dance on my psycho notes.
Observe.

It was too cute to kill.

Who knew insects could make such a long blog post.
Who knew..
