Oh yes. Karyn and Beng Yen found a treasure trove amidst the apparent starkness of the jungle-like and desolate Nilai.
We found MYDIN near the Nilai bus station. Ok fine, it's not exaacctly a treasure trove but still, the stuff there is so much cheaper than what is sold here in Inti. Cheap as in 30cents to a few dollars less than what is charged in the Inti Mart.
We have already made plans to stock up on our stuffs when the second semester resumes after the two month long year end holiday.
Students on budget like us cannot afford to waste petty amounts of cash like that at the Inti Mart unless totally necessary.

Importance
Shocking news :
Quite a number of JPA scholars who are gonna take the SATs in October might be coming down to Penang. The reason? The places allocated in Metropolitan College is already FULL. There's only Dalat International School and KDU, Penang left as testing centres.
Good news for the Penangites but not so good news for the rest who haven't registered.
If any of you Inti JPA scholars are reading this and have yet to register yourselves,
BETTER GO REGISTER ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!
THERE'S NOT MUCH TIME LEFT!
This means i will have to go back to Penang during the Raya break anyway. =) Originally, i intended on taking the SAT here in Selangor seeing as how academically unproductive i was during the 6 days back in Penang. WAHAHAHAHA.
So now, i have no choice but to study for SAT and try not to think of going anywhere during that one week Raya holidays. Oh, and possibly go talk to the high school teachers regarding my reccommendation letter or something...
Even the holidays are filled with work.
Oh well.
Such is life.

Experience
Falalaa.
Mummy came down to Nilai on Friday. Brought her to the pasar malam.
We went to the pyramids the next day. Beng yen came too. =) Of course i felt bad for not doing my csc assignment and going kai kai instead. But mummy came down to visit me leh. How can i not spend time with her??
Mummy bought stuff for me, of course. Eheee.
I am now the proud owner of two very cute shirts. Observe.
Close up shot so you can read the words better.
HAHAHAHHAHA.
I think Kiran and Jas would love shirts like these.
On another note, getting aboard a ktm train during peak hours is never a delightful experience.
There was barely enough space to stand, much less breathe (I think i have a tiny claustropohobic problem). Crazy people kept pushing and jostling when trying to cram themselves into the already packed train. The box of donuts that beng yen and i bought got squashed along the way..The train being so packed to its brim, there was definitely no place for a box of one dozen donuts hence, the choice to put them on my head African style. People prolly thought i had a screw lose. Too bad nobody took a picture to send to TheStar newspaper. HAHA.
See what heartless commuters did to the donuts.
The poor JCo donuts suffered through an ordeal to get to Joyce. Good thing it's safely in her tummy now. =) (the two of us who braved the ktm commuter traffic considered charging Joyce extra for the protection service that we gave to her donuts. Hehe.)
I experienced a very disgusting moment while on board the bus back to Inti.
There i sat right next to Beng Yen at the very back of the bus. All was well and good until three malay dudes got on(without paying) and sat next to me. Out of the blue, the one next to me oh-so-cassually put his disgusting arm around me. Too stunned to shout, all i did was glare(or try to) at the impudent malay dude. He then apologized by saying his friends made him do it.
I thought all was over but how wrong i was. The same malay dude with an alcoholic breath tried to solicit for conversation from both of us. Asking us where we were from, what were our names and so on...Thinking back, I remember him saying that i smelt very pretty. O.o Both Beng Yen and me immediately changed to seats further front.
Once again i thought i could put that repugnant incident behind me...until Beng Yen posed the question "did you realize that the guy touched your butt when you got up?"
I honestly didn't feel it but Beng Yen saw his hand on me with her own two eyes.
You don't know how vile i felt at that particular moment. All i wanted to do was get back to the hostel and scrub myself clean.
Some.pervert.touched.me.on.my.butt.
!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ew. Yuck. Gross.
As i'm writing this, i feel thoroughly disgusted once again.
Thankfully, the bus driver realized that the three youths didn't pay for the bus ride and shooed them off. According to Beng Yen, they were pretty nonchalant about being kicked off the bus.
Throughout the entire horrendous incident, i never once thought of shouting in the bus..Both us girls were too shocked to respond. Somehow, my impulses did not cut across my brain to the receptors to allow me to respond by screaming. I didn't know how to react. Sigh.
Lesson learnt:
1. Never sit at the backmost row of the bus.
2. Wear EXTREMELY covered up clothes.
3. Nilai is not safe.
4. Learn how to do those high-pitched screams that can shatter glass and spoil ears.
I shall now put this behind me and go do my CSC.

Relief
I was one of the 98 JPA students in our batch to pass the mock SAT cut off point of 1800! In fact, the 14 of us from our ENL 101 class had scores that surpassed 1800. =D ours was the only class with 100% passes. Prof. Lim was pleased with our results. But like he said, this is only the first obstacle. The harder challenge would be actually getting admission into those top universities.
Indeed, we survived and prevailed against the SAT mock.
Congrats to all the other JPA-ians who passed the cut off point! SAT test paid for. =)
But then again, those who didn't pass the cut off point, TAKE THE TEST ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!! Who cares what the 'Godfather' says. Always so fickle minded. XD
Really really thankful for getting a good score in the mock! Never expected so much. =) Now i need to make sure i do as well if not better for the REAL test.
Add oil.

The Invasion
Sigh. I think this blog may go defunct seeing as how JyoLyn beats me to updating about the latest happenings in Inti. This girl has an updating rate that equals Lynn's! Yesterday, i wanted to blog about the Insect Invasion but obviously i was beaten to it. Then today, i wanted to update about the mock SAT results..And she beat me to it. Again!
*shakes head*
Hahaha. I concede defeat. I'm lazier at uploading photos and updating. *grins*
Anyway, here's my version of The Insect Invasion.
One fine morning, i woke up to see stuff littered on the toilet floors. Walking deeper into the toilet, i found that almost every inch was covered with either dead or tinggal nyawa-nyawa ikan sahaja insects.
Disgusting and disturbing. Especially those that still had some life left in them. Fluttering and crawling around..They were everywhere! Sinks, floor, showering cubicles, toilet cubicles.
EEWW. A sink filled with..let's just call them creepy crawlies.
Oddly, the toilet on the other end of the block wasn't invaded by these creatures. Only the toilet, pantry and surrounding areas around the first half of the block got attacked. The reason of their location of attack still remains a mystery.
I imagine the poor toilet cleaner must've had a hard time cleaning.

Back to Ulu Land
Karyn is now basking in the ulu-ness of Nilai. Once again performing the perfunctory rituals of getting up, going to classes, studying for tests and finishing assignments. Though seeing fellow JPA-ians again is quite nice. =) many people had hair cuts too! Hehe. That and people keep asking why i cut my hair. Some even asked if my hair dropped overnight. -.-
By the way, spent almost every single day of the holiday going out with family and friends..while other hardworking souls poured meticulously over their assignments and tutorial work. I overestimated myself when i brought home academic stuff to do, which i definitely did not look at, much less touch. Had to lug the extra load all the way back to Nilai. Heh.
Some pictures of the very short holiday break back in lovely Penang. Actually, there are only photos of Queensbay. Was less motivated (read:lazy) to take photos on the other outings.
I love this picture. Look, my hair is so straight and orderly. =D Now without the skills of the hair stylist, hair is back to being a bit unruly. Tsk. Oh yes, this was also where i bumped into Beng Yen and *coughSomeonecough*. Hahahah. =P
Empty Queensbay escalators. Ok, fine. Not exactly empty..
I think my cuzin looks a bit like Sik Hoe in this picture. Hahahaha.
Right after Queensbay, it was dinner at Yellow Light Restaurant. Food was not bad but not extremely good either.
On board the flight back to Ulu-Land, I had a pre-ordered 1901 hotdog meal.
Behold the RM 6 measly meal :
See see, my skills not bad right? Artistically designed. HAHA.
Yep, it was a DIY version of the hotdog. There were ketchup, mayonaise and black peper sachets but the relish (the green stuff) part was missing..
Observe the size of the hotdog compared to its box. It's like half the size of the original 1901 dog than you can get on land yet twice as expensive. And no relish! Air Asia tipu budak. =P
Lesson : never order food on board Air Asia. XD

Edward Scissorhands
Tada!
The new(and improved?) Karyn.
Hahaha.
Yes i know i am bad taking poser pictures. What to do what to do.
Haha.
Anyway! I'm pretty happy about the cut.
It was supposed to be a trim but then I wanted it much shorter. So that it doesn't become an overgrown bush during the coming months in Nilai.
It's something different from the same old long hair i had since...ages ago.
O yeah, I can do The Hairflip much better now! The very Hairflip that Kiran loves doing. Hhahaha.
Speaking of Kiran..She thinks i talk nonsense most of the time (which i do not). Here's her proof.
FORZA AZZURRI says:
cos you talk nonsense most of the time, when talking to me that is
Karyn says:
-.-
Karyn says:
i do not
FORZA AZZURRI says:
yes you do
FORZA AZZURRI says:
i can only remem, ber one right now....there were birds in the college
FORZA AZZURRI says:

FORZA AZZURRI says:

FORZA AZZURRI says:

Karyn says:

Karyn says:

Sound effects make things interesting whaaatt. =D

Home home home
Call me crazee but the sight of KOMTAR never looked so good. Hahahaa. When the plane was low enough for me to make out the landmarks, i was practically bubbling over with happiness. From the window, i saw KOMTAR, the geodesic dome, Jelutong Expressway, Tesco and some flats. By the way, I got the 3 seats to myself. =D one for my bag, one for me to look at the view, and the one by the aisle was for when i'm tired. HEHEHE. Must utilize to the maximum maaaa.
PENANG IS TEH AWESOMEEEEE!!!!!!
Hahahaha.
I miss home so much.
Now i don't feel like going back there.
And not to mention the CSC report. *groan* I'm still not exactly sure how to do the thing..
But! My BIL came up with a good solution for the report(something about advice to give to first time pc buyers) : go look for him. Cause he's teh expert.
HAHAHAHA.
I wish i could just type that into the report.
By the way, i had Mee Goreng for lunch(the authentic Indian one) and japanese food for dinner. XD XD
Life is good.

Home bound.
We. Survived. D-Day.
Mock test came and gone just like that.
Most people going home tonight or tomorrow morning.
And by this time tomorrow, i'll be at home! =D =D
Only a handful poor souls staying back..
On to more interesting things.
About one month ago during the registration day here in Inti-UC, i thought i spotted a very familiarly cute, diminutive man in the MPH. I excitedly messaged Kiran asking her if the small man was in college cause there seemed to be a lookalike. Anyway, i just found out today that it really WAS THE STATISTICS LECTURER FROM DISTED who was present on that day!! His daughter is here. HAHAHA. Proves that i wasn't hallucinating. =P
Hmm..i wonder if i can go up to him and say Hi,isawyouinintinilailastmonth!
Random conversation with a friend from INTEC:
Friend : Do you play scrabble?
Me : Yeah. Back when i was younger. Why?
Friend : Oh, you have the scrabble look.
Me : O.o
Like how many people tell you that you have THE scrabble look?
I'm not even entirely sure whether to take it as a compliment or a mockery. =p
Hahaha.
Look what my mum just told me :
julie says:
sat 3 kim n i went to May's place 2 cut hair
julie says:
met a guy from Disted wan
julie says:
did his hair there aso
julie says:
May said he is d only son
julie says:
very pampered one
julie says:
his mum is May's client aso
Karyn says:
O.O
Eheheee. I dunno who it is BUT i will find out someday soon. By the way, he knows you, Lynn (eventhough he's not doing A levels). Famous-nya. But then again, there's no one there who doesn't know who Ee Lynn. =)
The person goes to the same hairdresser as my mum does. Neat. Haha.
Wookay, going to pack now.
Seeya in 24 hours, Penang!
WHHEEEEEEE.

Almost there
Lee Chong Wei is going to the finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*whoops with joy*
Let me say that again.
LEE CHONG WEI IS GOING TO THE FINALS!
Malaysia's anthem has a 50:50 chance of being played!
HAHA.
Thank goodness Prof. Lim was in such a good mood today that he let us out at exactly 7pm. Usually his classes end 15 minutes later. The ENL 101 students rushed to the bakery to join the crowd of supporters. Combined, we expressed our frustrations when Lee Hyun Il scored, cheered when Lee Chong Wei gained points and gave a thunderous round of applause when Chong Wei won. =D (I think he's very the cute..with the blur face and all. Haha! But of course someone else cuter. ;) )
You guys should've seen my roommate. She was..hysterical throughout the second and third sets. =P people kept telling her to calm down. Hehee. Another girl was teary eyed with the jubilant victory over Korea.
Which reminds me..
JPA Students vs Mock SAT match coming right up.
The mock test is definitely going to serve.

Tick Tock
One test down.
Another to go.
Calculus was....interesting.
I really did try my best but i got a whole lot wrong anyway.
I know so cause our lecturer gave us the answer sheet as a little souvenir.
Funny how i could get zero as an answer for one question but the right answer was some number.
Oh wait, that's cause i forgot about using the conjugate method.
Sigh.
On the bright side, i now have international friends here in Inti..like after one month. Just got to know some African girls living on the ground floor. =D I have African friends, you got or not? HAHA. They have the canggih-est names. Like Oetla and Nkamo. The way one pronounces these African names are not as simple as 'Ah Beng' or 'John' or 'Ali'. It requires some..tongue skill. That sounds wrong..but yeah.
Oh, they're from Botswana by the way. Some cross-cultural insights garnered from my conversation with the girls.
1. They think our Malaysian culture of leaving shoes outside the house/room is weird.
2. They think we eat and awful lot, which is true. In Botswana, they only eat during specific meal times. Here, people eat 24/7.
3. RM1 is equivalent to 3Pula.
4. Inti-UC is like more modernized than their capital city..and to think we complain about being surrounded by dense verdant forests.
5. Their largest shopping mall is smaller than our Learning Resource Centre(which is a small, block of 4 levels housing the library and lecture rooms).
Hahaha. =)

11.08.08
HAHA. Too late for a momentous blog post.
In case anyone thinks i'm totally deprived of tv, i actually watched the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony from start to end. =D
It was a somewhat different feeling to sit amongst fellow Malaysians & some international students, cheering when we saw our home countries march pass during the event..and booing when Mr Bush's face came on screen. Teehee. I didn't ok. =p
This worldwide thing happens once in every four years..and once in a lifetime of an Inti student. Like how many Intians can proudly say they've witnessed the opening ceremony in a foreign (ok, not so foreign) land yet feel the vibe of unity emanating from every corner.
Together, we ooh-ed and aahh-ed at the marvels of the Chinese, applauded the fantastic display of creativity, and sat through the soporific march past of 204 countries.
One World One Dream.
=)

Together, we ooh-ed and aahh-ed at the marvels of the Chinese, applauded the fantastic display of creativity, and sat through the soporific march past of 204 countries.
One World One Dream.

AS
Remember the AS exam i took waaayy back in June?
When i was too lazee to study cause i knew i'd be coming to Nilai..
The AS exam result was released online today.
I checked it,
Aaaannddddd...I got a B for Physics and Maths.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Pretty surprising.
I didn't expect much from Physics (i remember being very confused during the paper) but Maths?!
Got so bad ah (must be mechanics. Eheh). =S
Anyhow, Chemistry and GP turned out to be A's. =)
But then again, now i've mock SAT to sit for in a week's time. 4 hours of mental exercise and butt freeze.

The Pyramids of Giza Sunway
Call us crazy but a bunch of us braved the two and a half hour journey all the way to Subang, just for a day of relaxation at Sunway Pyramid. =D By the way, the actual journey by car takes only about one hour or so. Because none of us own cars and there is no direct route there, we had to do a bus-ktm-bus journey.
The oh-so-famous sphinx statue that guards the entrance of Sunway Pyramid, where the sign says 'Please Do Not Sit' and everyone sits on it anyway. =P This is a rather nostalgic spot, if i may say so. Haha. I remember taking pictures here back in form 4, though i don't seem to have the pictures. I remember having a meal with the closest high school friends at Delifrance and at some waffle place following the sumptuous lunch. Sigh, i miss those food fest days. ;) And i also remember Pn Suhaila's kid who was rather...spoilt..but cute nevertheless.
Aaannd our first stop was McD for lunch. Yes, it is not a very good photo, being overexposed an all. But, it was necessary for it marked the first McDonalds meal that my roomie has ever had! I am not kidding. There are no McD outlets in Bintulu, they only have KFC & Mary Brown. Sad innit?
Ah Liang and Jit Chun, two nice people who willingly accompanied us girls to Sunway. =)
In typical guy fashion, they waited outside as the girls flit in out of various shops. Perfecting their future roles as husbands. Hahaha.
Seeing how bored the guys were, us girls agreed to a "cheong k" session but the visit to Red Box information counter prevented us from entering. RM24 per pax. Crazee. Then, we decided to try bowling. Most unfortunately, it was booked till 8pm for some bowling tourney. Alas, our final resort was to watch a movie but then the line was EXTREMELY long. So, three futile attempts. With nothing else to occupy the time, we went back to window shopping. =D and the guys went back to The Pose. Guys will be guys will be guys.
This if for you, EDMUND!!!! =D
It was some High School Musical tour performance thingy..They were doing YOUR song plus the actions too!
"we're all in this together..."
How ironic that i had to come all the way here to try a Rapid bus when there are Rapid Penang buses back home. Being the uninitiated, we paid RM2 for the initial journey to Sunway and subsequently paid another RM2 for the return trip not knowing that a Rapid KL bus ticket is valid for UNLIMITED trips for the whole day. -.-

^^ THE bear(s)
Came across an interesting kiosk somewhere inside Parkson. It somewhat resembles a bear factory. You get to choose the bear skin, stuff it, name it, test hug it, dress it and record a personalized message on it. Pretty neat, and pretty expensive too.
Another Forever Friends bear spotted. I'd buy this for you, mummy. But it's waaayy over budget. Ehehe. For now, i show you picture only, ok? =P

<3
XD a whole shelf full of huggable stuff! AAAAHHHHHHH!
There were more soft furry thingies like cute zebras in increasing sizes. Sheep too. Haha.
Dinner was at Kim Gary. Reminds me of the day, one month ago before i came to Inti..
Anyway, they forgot my order. HMPH.
On the way home, we bumped into fellow JPA mates who went to KLCC for a PC fair. And the one shown in the picture is the elusive Sik Hoe. A nice friend. =)
After the bus-ktm-bus journey, all of us got home at about 11-ish. Tired but happy. =D
Final picture of the day:
Meet Mr Greedy, Mr Mishcevious and Mr Smiley. Nope, they do not belong to me.
That was Saturday, an end-of-1st-Psychology-test celebration.
Now there's two weeks left to mock test. (!!!)
And two weeks to go to seeing Penang as well. ^^

Donuts from JCO. Much nicer than Dunkin Donuts, me thinks.

Anniversary
It's been exactly one month since i've been in INTI-UC.
Ok, lets see what i've accomplished/learnt so far.
1. Gotten to know almost everyone on my floor.
2. Made friends with most of my classmates for the various subjects.
3. Meet other JPA students taking different majors, as well as other non-JPA scholars.
4. Done with the first psycho! in-class test.
5. Went to the pasar malam.
6. Adapted to not having own room.
7. Learnt that money disappears pretty quickly. (JPA, where's my allowance??)
8. Sang the INTI song numerous times. (like how cool is that. =P Disted no song. Blek)
9. Got 64% for the ENL in class test. First time i got sooooooo low for something related to English. Haha.
10. Found some friends who can speak hokkien. YAY!
11. Most people only know Chung Ling High School or Peng Hua whenever i mention i'm from Penang.
12. Played badminton, volleyball and jogged a couple of times. (see, i so healthy ever since i came here =P)
13. Went for yum chas at mamak stalls twice since i got here. (whaaaattt? i never go before ok.)
14. Food in Penang is waaaayyyy better. Even mamak here cannot compare.
15. I'm growing and learning . =)
And this afternoon i realized i've never walked through the main doors of INTI-UC..as in the grand entrance that is usually depicted on brouchures. HAHAHA.
